Pick your route

🌱 New to Swarm → start from the bootcamp. Start with the recorded online session and you'll have a working node before the hackathon properly gets going. At the booth on 4–5 September we go deeper 1:1 — access control, updateable addresses, encryption, PSS... Get the help from your agents using our agent skills, and wherever you get stuck, we do it together, live.

🔧 Already have a project → go straight to the booth. Skip the beginner session. Read the technical guide, start building right away 31 August, and bring your integration and architecture questions to Amsterdam. The booth will be staffed both days for 1:1 sessions — drop in for the specific pieces you need, no schedule to work around.

Not sure which you are? Watch the recorded online session anyway. It's an hour, you can do it whenever suits you, and it will get you started with something.

Fri 4 – Sat 5 Sept, De Hallen The Swarm booth — 1:1 support. Gift codes, debugging, architecture arguments, project ideation, setting milestones. Access control, updateable addresses, publishing, project-specific integration. No fixed timetable: anything you need help with, come and get the help. Come at hour two, not hour forty.
Sat 5 Sept, after the 09:00 CET submission deadline Bookable post-mortems. Twenty minutes each — sign up at the booth.

What Swarm is

Somewhere to put data that isn't a company's server. You buy space directly — an amount of storage for a length of time — with no account and no sign-up, and it's then held and served by thousands of independent machines rather than one provider who logs who uploaded what and when.

It's a subscription you hold, not a platform account that holds you. That does mean renewal: keep the space topped up and your data stays available, let it lapse and it eventually goes. A file's address never changes, since it's derived from the contents themselves; whether the file is still there depends on the space being paid up.

What to bring

Everyone:

If you're starting with the recorded online session: that's all. Please don't pre-install Swarm — the session is the install, and a half-finished setup is harder to untangle than a clean laptop.

If you're confident with tech and going straight to building: use the agent skills, run /swarm, and get going. Bring what breaks to Amsterdam.

You don't need: tokens, a funded wallet, or an exchange account — gift codes cover it. Make contact to the Swarm team to receive one.

Saturday: book a post-mortem

Submissions close at 09:00 CET, which frees the rest of Saturday for the conversation that's actually useful.

Bookable 20-minute slots at the booth. Bring the running project, the repository, or the wreckage — all three are valid. We'll talk about the project itself: who it's for, whether it's worth carrying on past the hackathon, and what would have to be true for it to work. The technical side is part of that — our engineers will read the architecture and tell you what breaks at a hundred users — but the point is to leave with a clear view of the project and one concrete next milestone that makes sense.

We're not judging you and there's no scorecard, so come whichever state you're in. If it's broken, we'll work out why together and what it would take to get it running. If it's finished and running well, come too — that's the twenty minutes where we look at what happens at a hundred users, what to harden next, and how to keep it alive after the hackathon. Polished projects get as much out of this as wrecked ones.

If it's something Swarm Foundation would like to see exist, this is where the funding conversation starts. Nothing is committed in advance — we'd rather see it first.
